
Minister for Soil and Water conservation and Geology and Mining, V Kashiho Sangtam Friday has underscored the importance of skill development and capacity building to address the acute employment issue faced by the state.
Kashiho was speaking at the second day of Seycohung Area Students Union (SASU) 25th session at Seyochung headquarters as a special guest.
Admitting that unemployment issue was at an alarming pace, the minister encouraged the youths and educated unemployed to be skilled so as to be self-reliant and for a vibrant society.
Pointing out the fast growth of modern science and technology, Kashiho encouraged the students to cultivate a competitive spirit so as to be at par with others in this competitive age. He, however, also cautioned the students against the negative side of technologies and advised them to use it for their advantage.
Highlighting the need to inculcate the sense of brotherhood to foster peace and unity among the Naga communities, Kashiho urged all to shun “ism”, “bias” and “prejudice” adding that development activities would be hampered without peace.
Earlier, the special guest unfurled the 25th SASU flag followed by an invocation by Thsingar Baptist Lithro youth Pastor, Tsointhsi and presidential address by Chumseli Anar. The welcome note was delivered by secretary planning committee, Horiba Sangtam, solidarity speech was delivered by Kiphire Tuensang District Sumi Students Union (KTDSSU), Anato Sumi while KAL voice presented a special number.
Meanwhile, the oath taking ceremony was initiated by SASU games and sports secretary, Tsaroli and the special guest declared the 25th SASU sports open.
