Skill training for ruralyouth underway at Mon

DIMAPUR:

ATMA Mon district commenced its Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) programme on February 25 as part of the national initiative through Agricultural Technology Management Agencies (ATMA) to empower young people in the rural areas with essential skills and bridge the gap between traditional farming and modern technology.
The programme aimed to serve as a platform in enabling youth to engage in self-employment, boost productivity, and drive rural economic growth through practical, vocational training by upgrading technical skills in diverse areas such as agriculture, horticulture, and allied sectors including agri entrepreneurship.
A press release by ATMA Mon stated that the inaugural session was graced by ADC Mon, Pakon Phom, who encouraged the youths need to equip themselves with skills and foster a shift from subsistence farming to high value technology driven agriculture.
He later gave “Mon Block best Farmer” award to Jainon Konyak of Leangyu Village.
The inaugural program was followed by technical session where training on value addition in millet was conducted by ATM, Manlen Konyak, while value addition in ginger and mushroom production was conducted by BTM, Vimeno Zao.
