Ten-day, training programme for development of skills of mulberry silkworm rearers on mulberry sericulture was organized by Research Extension Centre (REC), Dimapur, at its office premises, Samaguri district, from October 11 to 20.
A press release from REC, Dimapur in-charge Imtinokchung, stated that the programme was divided into two components, FST on Chawki Stage mulberry silkworm rearing and late stage mulberry silkworm rearing.
The inauguration function of the FST was graced by Asstt. sericulture officer, Dhansiriphar, Atenjemba, as chief guest and KVK, Jharnapani, Chumukedima Asstt. Chief Technical Officer(Agron) Dr. Robin Singh, as guest of honour.
A total of 25 farmers from Bamunpukhuri, Toluvi, Samaguri, Senjum and Padumpukhuri villages, participated in the FST programme. Imtinokchung, in-charge, REC, Dimapur welcomed the distinguished guests, delegates and farmers.
He gave a brief account on the activities of REC, Dimapur and on the new technologies evolved by research institutes of Central Silk Board for the benefit of the farmers.
Guest of honour, Dr. Robin Singh, advised the farmers to get the benefit and appealed to the department officials & CSB Scientists to work together for the uplift of rural people through sericulture. The programme was then followed by regular classes, both theoretical and practical.
