Skill training for unemployed youth batch 24 was inaugurated at Don Bosco Tech AIDA centre on February 17. Batch 24 of skill training for unemployed youth started on January 22 with 64 trainees from 18 different tribes of the North East. Training is imparted in domains such as hospitality – food and beverage service and assistant beauty therapist.
The OSD government of Nagaland, national disaster management, Johnny Ruangmei graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Johnny Ruangmei lauded the initiative taken by Don Bosco Tech to provide skill training to dropouts, offering such courses as hospitality food and beverage services and hospitality beauty and wellness which are in high demand even in our own homes.
“It is praiseworthy that these dropouts become employable and are in demand across the world” he said. Ruangmei encouraged the trainees to be creative and utilise their ideas.
“Whether you are a matriculate or a Doctorate Degree holder it is important to be trained in a specific field. Skill matters today because it will help you to start your own business tomorrow” he added. He further asserted that Don Bosco Tech has provided important things for their lives, namely, challenge and response which will help them create history.
Meanwhile, state coordinator (placement), Anita Kuphu said that Don Bosco Society works for the development and education of the young especially those most at risk through its schools, colleges, universities, technical schools and youth centres and many more interventions.”
She further highlighted the unique selling points of Don Bosco Tech such as regular assessment of trainees through weekly tests and monthly assessment, parent meetings, eight-hour training daily for six days a week, training in basic computing, communicative English and soft skills besides the domain training involving practical and theoretical input along with industrial visits and guest lectures.
She further informed the gathering that at least 13 past trainees of AIDA centre are working overseas and some of them earn over Rs. 2 lakhs per month.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Toshikala Jamir and sharing by Temjeninla while Sumi and Naga remix folk dances and Chakesang and Lotha folk songs performed by trainees were some of the highlights of the programme. Vote of thanks was delivered by Jainpui Pamei.
