To equip farmers with latest technology on mulberry culture, department of Sericulture under Integrated Sericulture Development Project (ISDP) NERTPS 2015-16 organized skill upgradation training for stakeholders from September 22-24 at Peren district.
During inaugural session, training observer Vekiheilie Pienyu emphasized on the importance and need for adoption of technologies for better yield and productivity. He also appraised the farmers on the various components and activities to be implemented under ISDP NERTPS.
He, therefore, encouraged the farmers to be sincere and hard working in order to avail the opportunity.
Farmers were trained on various aspects of mulberry cultivation and silkworm rearing such as development of nursery, raising of systematic plantation, hostplant diseases and its management, rearing technology, silkworm diseases and management. Field demonstration was also conducted at government sericulture farm, Mhainamtsi. A total of 50 farmers attended the training programme.
Resource persons for the training were scientist –D, Central Silk Board, REC Dimapur Dr. Barah, district sericulture officer, Peren Ngangshimeyu and extension officer Lima.
