Slaughter houses in Wokha unhygienic: Dr. Chumben

Advisor Law & Justice and chairman DPDB Wokha, Dr. Chumben Murry Monday said that there were a lot of slaughter houses in Wokha but none of them were running in hygienic condition.
According to DIPR report, Dr. Chumben said this at Wokha District Planning Development Board (DPDB) meeting-cum-advent Christmas Celebration at Hammock Resort, New Wokha village.
He said certain guidelines needed to be followed as far as meat shops were concerned. In this connection, Dr. Chumben has entrusted the department of Health & Family Welfare, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry and district administration to conduct joint meeting and come up with definite plan for improvement.
Meanwhile, the board has directed the departments of Health & Family Welfare, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Wokha Town Council/ district administration to submit action taken report on slaughter houses under Wokha town in the next meeting.
Advisor IT, & T & NRE, Mmhonlumo Kikon, who also spoke at the programme, said that there were reports on loss of human lives, properties, cash crops and plantation during human-elephant conflict in the district and therefore those effected should be compensated through livelihood projects and other schemes set up by the government.
The meeting was conducted by DC and vice chairman DPDB Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan conducted the meeting.
At the meeting, Mt.Tiyi College requested the board for financial assistance for putting up ceiling for general administrative building which the board discussed forwarded the same to the concerned authority for consideration.
The board also observed advent Christmas celebration with associate pastor WTBC, Zurenthung Humtsoe as speaker, who delivered a message on the importance of Christmas taken from the scripture Matt1:21-23 and Luke 4:18-19.
Christmas greetings were also delivered by advisors Mmhonlumo Kikon, Dr. Chumben Murry, DC Ajit Kumar Ranjan, special number was presented by Lobeno Tungoe and DSCO, Libemo Jami.
The programme began with an invocation by president, Lotha Eloe Hoho Thungbeni Ngullie and was chaired by District Planning Officer Y. Orenbomo Lotha.
