Commissioner and Secretary for School Education & SCERT, Kevileno Angami, has declared the School Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) mandatory for all school heads, stating its importance in future promotional reviews within the department.
She was speaking at the inaugural of the seventh batch of SLDP, held at SCERT Kohima in collaboration with the NECTAR project. The one-month certificate course, which began on July 29 and concludes on August 29, 2025, aims to ensure that no school head in Nagaland remains untrained.
Kevileno urged leaders to uphold classroom learning standards and actively use the SMILE app for professional development. The SLDP curriculum spans seven key areas including leadership perspectives, self-development, innovation, and collaborative strategies.
SCERT Reader Benjungdenla Yaden informed that a follow-up evidence-based study will be conducted post-training to shape future educational initiatives.
Director of School Education, Razouseyi Vese lauded the participation of senior school heads and emphasized the critical role of leadership in driving school excellence.
Additional Director & Cell Head, SIEMAT, T. Lima Longkumer, underscored the need for schools to nurture 21st century competencies: Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, and Critical Thinking.
Deputy Director of DoSE, Nellayappan B reflected on the evolving nature of school leadership, calling for tech-savviness, approachability, and shared expertise across institutions.
Aishwarya Santhosh, Programme Manager, P3 Consortium NECTAR, encouraged introspection among participants and announced the development of a ‘Nagaland School Leadership Award’ to honour exceptional leaders in the field.
