Slice Small Finance Bank opens 6th branch in Wka

DIMAPUR

Slice Small Finance Bank (formerly known as North East Small Finance Bank Limited) inaugurated its sixth branch in Nagaland, located opposite the Department of Planning and Transformation, Wokha.
The branch was formally inaugurated by Advisor to the Chief Minister, Dr. Chumben Murry, with Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Vineet Kumar, as the guest of honour. Among those present at the event were Liability Head of Slice SFB, Head Office Guwahati, Pranjal Medhi, and Slice SFB Head for Meghalaya and Nagaland Seiboi Khongsai.
Speaking at the programme, Dr. Murry emphasized that banking is not just about transactions but about empowerment. He urged the bank to remain user-friendly, offering support to farmers, women, and entrepreneurs, and to organize financial literacy camps for public education. Highlighting the potential of Wokha, he pointed out that while the region is known for its agricultural output, it ranks seventh in the state GDP, underscoring the need for better investment opportunities and access to financial services. Dr. Murry encouraged residents to invest their savings wisely instead of keeping cash idle at home and to explore micro and small enterprises, given the increasing availability of credit facilities.
Vineet Kumar extended his gratitude to Slice Small Finance Bank for recognizing Wokha’s potential. He acknowledged that many local residents still prefer borrowing from private lenders due to concerns about trust and the perceived complexity of bank loan applications. Kumar encouraged the bank to foster trust among the community, simplify access to credit, and focus on promoting financial literacy to drive entrepreneurship in the district.
