DIMAPUR: A Slow Loris was rescued by Nihoto K. Yepthomi of Sukhalu village and handed over to the Zunheboto District Tourism Association (ZTDA), formerly known as the Nagaland Tourism Association (Zunheboto), for appropriate care and conservation.
Following consultation and necessary assessment, the ZTDA safely released the rescued animal into its natural habitat at the Sukhai Biodiversity Conservation Area, ensuring its welfare while contributing to ongoing wildlife conservation efforts in the district.
Expressing appreciation to Nihoto and the people of Sukhalu village for their responsible action, the association emphasised the importance of community participation in protecting Nagaland’s rich biodiversity. It further encouraged the public to report sightings of injured, distressed or displaced wildlife to the appropriate authorities or conservation organisations rather than attempting to keep wild animals as pets.
ZTDA stated that collective efforts by local communities remain vital in safeguarding Nagaland’s unique wildlife heritage for future generations.
