As part of the Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 Scheme, smartphones were distributed to Anganwadi Workers under the Jalukie ICDS Project and Chizami Project on June 27 to improve coordination and efficiency in welfare services.
In Jalukie, advisor for Social Welfare, Wangpang Konyak, handed over smartphones to 20 Anganwadi Workers during a programme held at St. Xavier’s Parish, Jubilee Hall. According to a DIPR report, the advisor said the visit also aimed to assess challenges faced by frontline workers in the district. He urged officers and staff to remain dedicated at their postings and strengthen coordination with the district administration for effective delivery of schemes.
Wangpang noted that smartphones would enable real-time monitoring and timely reporting, saying, “With these smartphones, there should be no room for excuses.” He also raised concerns over bogus entries in old age pension schemes and directed staff to identify and remove such entries through monthly reporting.
Secretary of Social Welfare, Yongchingkumla, and Peren DC, Hiazu Meru, also addressed the gathering. The programme began with a welcome address by DPO Peren, Tsungrosongla Ao, and ended with a vote of thanks from CDPO Jalukie, R. Chirhotshu Nyusou. An interactive session with officials followed the event.
In Chizami, the Social Welfare Department distributed Samsung Galaxy A06 smartphones to Anganwadi Workers for official use under the ICDS scheme. DPO, Kevineinuo Rio, emphasized the role of digital tools in improving service delivery and urged workers to use the devices responsibly. Senior Supervisor, Zekote Therie, reminded workers that the phones are government property and should be used strictly for work.
The devices will aid workers in reporting, attending online trainings, and accessing welfare platforms like the Poshan Tracker. Workers expressed appreciation for the support.
