The ongoing Season 3 of the SML witnessed three exciting encounters on December 13 and 14, with Kohima Legends, Lhomithi SC and Esa Warriors emerging victorious through dominant performances.
On Saturday match between Kohima Legends and Nzon CC, Kohima Legends won the toss and opted to bat first, making full use of the decision. Their top order set the tone while the middle order capitalised, powering the team to a massive 223/6 in 20 overs.
Tapito Thupitopr led from the front with a commanding 51 runs and later made an impact with the ball, picking up two wickets. His all-round display earned him the Man of the Match award.
In reply, Nzon CC never found momentum in the chase and were restricted to 127/6 in 20 overs. Samuel Shohe showed resistance with a fighting 40 off 48 balls but lacked support from the other end. Kohima Legends sealed a comprehensive victory with their dominant all-round performance.
In the second fixture of the day between Kohima Old Boys and Lhomithi SC, Kohima Old Boys won the toss and chose to bat, posting 142/5 in 20 overs. Meren Jamir and Talikaba Pongen contributed commendably to build a competitive total.
However, the score proved insufficient as Lhomithi SC paced the chase with composure, reaching 143/4. Enam Uddin anchored the innings with a solid 67 runs, well supported by Tohoto Chisho’s 48, ensuring a controlled finish.
For his match-winning knock, Enam Uddin was named Man of the Match.
On Sunday match between Chumou Veterans and Esa Warriors, Chumou Veterans won the toss and chose to bat, posting 113/4 in 20 overs. Nsamyibe and Lhoupe Koza put in a commendable effort to build a fighting total.
However, Esa Warriors proved too strong, pacing the chase well to reach 117/1 in just 15.3 overs. Wati Imsong anchored the innings with a fluent 58 off 45 balls, while Raza Barua added 34 off 41 balls to ensure a controlled finish.
For his decisive knock, Wati Imsong was awarded Man of the Match.
