The SML 3 league witnessed a series of gripping contests over the weekend, with teams delivering spirited performances and fans treated to edge-of-the-seat cricketing action.
Esa Warriors vs Chumou Veterans
On Saturday, Chumou Veterans won the toss and opted to field first, but Esa Warriors posted a competitive 164/8 in 20 overs. Raza led the charge with a fluent 52, while Rakesh (48) and Pankaj (30) provided crucial support. In reply, Chumou Veterans faltered under pressure and were bowled out for 123 in 18.2 overs. Esa’s bowlers maintained consistent discipline to secure a comfortable victory. Raza, for his all-round brilliance — 52 runs and three wickets — was named Man of the Match.
Old Boys vs Lhomithi SC
Old Boys, batting first after winning the toss, put up a strong 174/4 in their allotted overs. Abhijit Saha played a commanding innings of 70, supported by Meren Jamir (47), Anga Shuya (20), and Suneper (15). Lhomithi SC responded with yet another thrilling chase, as Wapang Zong (55), Hamrung Langthasa (39), and Tohoto Chisho (38) kept the contest alive. The match went down to the final over, with Lhomithi needing just 5 runs off 6 balls. However, Old Boys pacer Suneper held his nerve to defend the total, restricting Lhomithi SC to 169/4. Abhijit Saha’s match-winning knock earned him the Man of the Match award.
Nzon CC vs Kohima Legends
On Sunday, Nzon CC, choosing to bat first, managed 125/8 with Meshenti Apon (38), Alo Kez (30), and Samuel Shohe (18) contributing valuable runs. Kohima Legends made light work of the chase, reaching 128/2 with ease. Openers Thejaselhou (54) and Viketho (50) ensured a smooth pursuit of the target. For his composed batting and effective bowling, Thejaselhou was declared Man of the Match.
