Volunteers of the Survival Nagaland (SN) movement, in continuation of its drive for cross verification of documents in possession of IBIs conducted surprise checking at NST complex Dimapur.
In a press release, SN media cell said the checking opened “can of worms of different departments viz. district administrations, transport department, local authorities etc.”
SN informed that most of the “fake” driving licenses were from DTO Tuensang, DTO Wokha and DTO Zunheboto and surprisingly none of those persons knew how to drive a vehicle. A non-local was even found possessing a GB Association Identity Card, the release added.
SN said most of the shops at NST complex were let-out to IBIs from Karimganj district of Assam. It also questioned as to how the identity documents they possessed, were government issued ID cards from the District Commissioners office of our state. SN said it was startling to know that most of the shops let out to IBIs, belonged (original allottees) to the department officials.
“This clearly shows how the greed for easy money has made the Naga higher strata without a care for their own people which could be easily let out to our own people,” the media cell stated. SN said it would publish those original allottees with those whom they have been let out.
Meanwhile, SN has expressed deep appreciation towards the initiative by NSF to conduct awareness campaign on IBI related issues throughout the state.
While welcoming such an initiative, it also assured the NSF of its fullest cooperation towards the step taken by the apex students’ body.
SN also appealed the apex tribal bodies to realize the grim gravity of the situation posed by the IBIs on the socio-political and economic lives of the Nagas and further urged them to render their support towards the move by NSF.
