As part of the nationwide Sub-National Immunization Day (SNID), Polio Day was observed across Nagaland on October 12, with immunization drives conducted in Noklak, Phek and Kiphire districts to raise awareness and ensure protection of children under five years of age.
In Noklak, the Chief Medical Office set up 54 immunization booths across the district, targeting 3025 children. The first oral polio vaccine drop was administered by SDO (Civil) Noklak, Vikhoto Richa, in the presence of Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Victor NC and other officials. Health workers and volunteers actively participated in the campaign. A house-to-house vaccination drive is scheduled for October 13 and 14, 2025 to ensure full coverage.
In Phek, the IPPI (Polio Sunday) campaign was launched at District Hospital, Phek, where ADC Phek, Thejakhrienuo Nisa, administered the first polio drop. The programme was attended by CMO Dr. K. Chitala Hiese and DPO Dr. Khriekuolie Liezietsû. Eleven polio booths were set up in Phek town under the Universal Immunization Programme.
In Kiphire, SNID Polio Day was observed at five key locations including District Hospital, Local Ground, Traffic Point, South Zone Church, and Longthonger Junction. The immunization drive was supervised by Dr. Yelo T. Mero, DPO (RCH/UIP), with health teams administering OPV to children below five years.
