WOKHA, SEP 19 (NPN): A new snooker club, The Crucible, dedicated to promoting the sport and providing enthusiasts with a regulated space was inaugurated on September 19 at Yikhow Complex, Tsumang Colony, Wokha.
The club aims to host the Nagaland Open Tournament and an annual district-level competition, offering local players opportunities to showcase their talent and encouraging wider interest in snooker. Operating hours will be Monday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to midnight, with each game priced at Rs. 200.
Food services will be available, and members will enjoy a 10 percent discount. To ensure a disciplined environment, smoking and intoxicants are strictly prohibited on the premises.
The inauguration was graced by Wokha Town Council chairman W. Myingthungo Kikon, who formally opened the club with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. In his address, Kikon lauded the initiative, noting that such facilities provide constructive avenues for youth while fostering discipline, interaction and healthy competition.
Club proprietor Y. Chumdemo Murry shared the vision behind establishing The Crucible, emphasizing its role in creating a dedicated and well-regulated space for snooker enthusiasts.
The programme was chaired by former president of the Lotha Students’ Union, Lirhonthung Kithan, invocation prayer by Thungbeni Ngullie and a welcome address by Murry. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by president of the Wokha District Sports Association and chairman of MSMEPCI, Wokha District, Yanrenthung Humtsoe, followed by a benediction prayer by Thungjamo Odyuo.
