As part of the nationwide launch of the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivaar Abhiyaan (SNSPA), district-level programmes were held across Dimapur, Wokha, and Tuensang on September 17, aimed at improving healthcare and nutrition services for women and children.
In Dimapur, the campaign was launched at District Hospital Dimapur, coinciding with the national launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The programme began with a live screening of the Prime Minister’s address, followed by the formal inauguration by Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing women and children’s health to achieve the vision of Vikshit Bharat and assured full support from the district administration.
Chief Medical Officer Dimapur, Dr. T. Yetovi Tuccu, delivered the keynote address, stating that the campaign seeks to strengthen promotive, preventive, and curative healthcare services. The campaign will continue till October 2, 2025, and include screenings, antenatal care, immunization, counselling, and enrolment under various health schemes. Specialist medical officers will be deployed across CHCs and PHCs, and a district-wide blood donation drive will be conducted.
In Wokha, the campaign was launched at Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital with Deputy Commissioner Vineent Kumar as special guest. Kumar highlighted the need for renewed focus on women’s health and pointed out that stigma and patriarchal norms continue to hinder access to healthcare. He stressed the importance of early childhood care and nutrition and urged hospital staff to maintain regular attendance and emergency coverage. The programme was chaired by Medical Superintendent Dr. Mhonchan N. Kithan, with welcome address by CMO Dr. Thungchanbemo Ezung and keynote by District Programme Officer Dr. Thungchanpeni Patton. Vote of thanks was delivered by District Programme Manager Mhonbeni Ezung.
In Tuensang, the campaign was launched at the District Hospital conference hall with EAC Tuensang Er. Moasanen as the speaker. He emphasized that women’s health is a community and development issue and called for practical empowerment beyond policy. Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he said society can only progress when women progress.
DIO RCH & UIP Dr. Waulong Phom gave an overview of the campaign, while a special presentation was presented by District Hospital Tuensang Youth. The programme was chaired by SMO Dr. Apila Sangtam, with invocation by Mongsenla, vote of thanks by MS Dr. Sakoyuba Imchen, and benediction by Chaplain Kamchila.
Meanwhile, in observance of Seva Parv, the Dimapur Forest Division led by DFO Beizo Suokhrie, conducted a plantation drive on September 17. Approximately 2000 saplings were planted across Nagar Van/Nagar Vatika sites and degraded forest lands under Kuhuboto and Chumoukedima ranges.
Addressing forest officers and field staff, Suokhrie said the initiative realigns the division’s commitment to environmental stewardship. PCCF & HoFF Dharmendra Prakash, also graced the occasion and emphasized collaborative action for environmental protection.
Seva Parv, observed from September 17 to October 2, promotes community service and social responsibility as a tribute to the nation.
