SOC deliberates on upcoming campaigns

State Oversight Committee (SOC) held a meeting on May 2 at Conference Hall, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima, where the members deliberated on the modalities and plan of the upcoming Integrated Sexually transmitted infections (STI), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Tuberculosis (TB), Hepatitis (ISHTH) campaign in Prisons & Other Closed Settings (P&OCS).
According to a DIPR report, the campaign under aegis of the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) would be launched across the country on May 15. Nagaland H&FW department would also carry out the campaign among inmates and clients of prison and other closed settings for screening/testing and linkages to treatment of STI, HIV, TB and Hepatitis, across the state.
At the meeting, the modalities and plan of the upcoming ISHTH campaign were presented by joint director (prevention), Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), Dr. Bernice D Thapru, while an overview of the HIV and AIDS scenario in the state was given by deputy director (SIMU), NSACS, Medo Kire.
The meeting also deliberated on two more upcoming campaigns, namely, the Integrated Health Camp (IHC) and Elimination of Vertical Transmission of HIV & Syphilis (EVTHS) campaign for which the presentations were given by Dr. M. Nukshisangla Jamir, Deputy Director (BSD), NSACS.
The meeting chaired by commissioner and secretary and chairman, NSACS, Y. Kikheto Sema was attended by principal director, H&FW, Dr. Vibeituonuo M. Sachu, mission director NHM, Dr. Ritu Thurr, project director NSACS, Dr. Akuo Sorhie, state TB officer, Dr. Tiasunep, senior officials of H&FW, representatives of social welfare department, prison department, development partners, NGO partners and others.
