Minister for health and family welfare, Imkong L Imchen, on Tuesday has reiterated the demand for solution to Naga political issue before the forthcoming 2018 Assembly Elections.
Speaking at the inauguration of Angphang Model Village under Mon District as chief guest, Imkong said “Naga Political Settlement is the agenda of the Nagas and therefore solution is more important than election for the Nagas.”
Imkong said that if talks between the government of India and Naga political groups were in final stage and “ready for solution” then the present government was ready to pave way for solution in the interest for the Nagas.
The minister said many have laid down their life for Naga settlement and that entire Nagas should repent and ask God for forgiveness for the innocent blood shed while searching for solution
Pointing out that many decades have passed without solution, he said Nagas today need a consensus for early solution to the Naga political issue.
Lauding the successful implementation of the model village project, Imkong appreciated the villagers, VDB and village council for proper management and added that with people’s participation the project was a success. “Angphang is a legendary village and this village is rightly called the Tiger of the East”, he added.
Addressing the gathering as guest of honour, advisor Department of Under-Developed Areas (DUDA) and NEPED, S. Pangnyu Phom, should be a model village not only for the block but the district well. He also encouraged the villagers to be a role model in their personality, discipline, cleanliness and hard work.
Pangnyu said that though government has initiated development projects to all the villages in Nagaland, only few villages could implement and utilize such developmental projects properly.
He then lauded Angphang Village for being among the villages which has used development project judiciously.
Minister for RD & REPA, EE Pangteang, secretary DUDA, Senti Ao, secretary RD, Kelei Zeliang, Konyak Union, president, S. Manlip, also spoke during the programme.
Earlier, the chief guest also inaugurated Angphang Primary Health Centre. Angphang Village is one of the biggest villages in Mon district, the development of Angphang Model Village was taken up by the DUDA under Border Area Development Programmed (BADP) with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
