Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi, had allegedly asked a co-passenger in a bus not to watch the Raja Raghuvanshi’ s murder case news on her mobile.
“I saw her at Varanasi Cantt. bus stand being dropped by two masked men and then she approached me asking if there are any alternative communications to Gorakhpur. I told her that a train leaves in the morning for Gorakhpur at 3 am,” Ujala Yadav, a co-passenger with Sonam claimed.
Yadav further claimed that Sonam somehow didn’t take the train and got into the bus from Varanasi Cantt. leaving for Gorakhpur. “Incidentally, she sat beside me in the same bus,” Ujala told this Correspondent over the phone from Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.
During the journey Ujala was watching the news on her mobile phone. “I was watching the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case news on the mobile phone, but Sonam, my co passenger, suddenly interrupted me and asked me why I was watching such useless news,” Ujala said.
Later Sonam asked for Ujala’s phone to make a call. “I gave here my phone. However, she did not make the phone call and deleted the number which she had tried to connect,” Yadav informed.
“I got down about 7-10 km before Ghazipur at Saidpur. I had a death in my family so I was going home from Lucknow where I am pursuing my studies,” Yadav said.
The next day, Yadav claimed, she saw the news about Sonam’s arrest and she identified her from her outfit. “Sonam was covering her face the entire journey, however, on two occasions I saw her face, but couldn’t recognise her at that time until I saw her picture on the news,” Yadav claimed.
She said that immediately after recognising her, she contacted the police and also got in touch with the family of Raja Raghuvnashi.
“I got the number of Raja’s family through the marriage invitation card that had gone viral on social media. The card had the number of Raja’s family,” she said.
Meanwhile, the family members of Raja had demanded a narco-test on Sonam and the other accused since they are allegedly not revealing the entire truth before the police.
“We are of the opinion that Sonam and the other accused are not revealing the whole truth. We are also suspecting that there are other people involved in the murder of Raja,” Sachin Raghuvanshi, the elder of Raja, said.
“There were two people who dropped Sonam at the Varanasi bus stand. These weren’t any of the accused who were arrested so far,” Sachin said, quoting Ujala Yadav who informed the family about Sonam’s journey on June 7 from Varanasi Cantt bus stand.
“Who are those people who dropped Sonam at the bus stand on June 7 night? Sonam has to reveal this. Therefore, a narco-test is required to get to the whole picture, “ Sachin demanded.
According to Sachin, Sonam was staying in Indore for 14 days after allegedly committing the crime on May 23 at Sohra. “She must have received support from certain people who are yet to be indentified and arrested,” Sachin said.
Meghalaya East Khasi Hills district police chief Vivek Syiem said that the Special Investigation Team would also interrogate and record the family members of Sonam and Raja.
Meghalaya police together with their counterpart in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have arrested earlier this week Sonam and four others – Raj Singh Kushwaha, Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan and Anand Kurmi.
These accused have been brought to Shillong on a transit remand from MP and UP and are being interrogated by the police after the court here granted eight days police custody on June 11.
