
Songkongkangyong water pumping project at Aolijen sector, Ungma village was inaugurated by Sharingain Longkumer, deputy speaker NLA on Saturday. With the inauguration of this project, water supply to Aolijen sector adjoining areas including some parts of Ungma village will be covered.
A brief inaugural programme was held at Aolijen. Speaking at the programme, Sharingain said that it was high time to look at this global water scarcity phenomena deeply. He further urged the people to preserve and use what nature has given and not to let the water source disappear.
Short speeches were also delivered by Chubangangtet Jamir, tatar, Aolijen ward chairman. In his speech, he thanked and acknowledged all the concerned stakeholders for their tremendous support and cooperation for making this project a success. He also made special mention to the land owners for their generosity in enabling the completion of the project successful starting from the source to the reservoir. Alemtoshi Imsong, Tatar, Chairman Ungma village council also spoke at the program. Meanwhile Er. Yanger Pongen E.E PHED Mokokchung gave a brief report of the project.
The water pumping project was an initiative of the residents of Aolijen ward in collaboration with the department of PHE, Mokokchung. The water is pumped from Songkongkangyong rivulet and a 30000 litre capacity reservoir will distribute water to about 200 homes at Aolijen sector.
