SP Tuensang leaves town after public outcry

A day after hundreds of citizens staged a protest at Tuensang town against the alleged “tyrannical attitude” of SP Tuensang Amit Nigam and demanding his removal within 24 hours from Tuensang district, the SP on Sunday morning left Tuensang town.

Though the official transfer order was yet to be out, DIG (Range) Mokokchung, who was tasked to hold consultation with civil society organisations on the matter, informed Nagaland Post that Nigam left Tuensang around 6.30 a.m. on Sunday and reached Mokokchung. DIG said that he was still in Tuensang and will be leaving soon.

Confederation of Chang Students’ Union (CCSU) had accused Nigam of physically assaulting a constable “using tribal identity” and also made “the victim repair the accidental damages”, besides other allegations against the SP.
