Special health camp for Persons with Disabilities held in Kiphire

DIMAPUR

A special health camp for persons with disabilities was organized at the District Hospital, Kiphire, by the Kiphire District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in collaboration with the hospital, under the wider SAATHI campaign. SAATHI (Survey for Aadhaar and Access to Tracking & JAGRITI (Justice Awareness for Grassroots Information and Transparency Initiative) is a national effort aimed at enhancing access to legal and healthcare services for vulnerable populations.
According to a DIPR report, the programme drew participation from children and senior citizens from some of the most remote and underserved villages in the district, including Thanamir, Iponger, Moya and Fakim. Their transport and participation were facilitated with the active assistance of Para Legal Volunteers and guardians, ensuring inclusive outreach. The health camp, supervised by secretary DLSA Kiphire, Holika Sukhalu, offered detailed medical screening for 42 children aged 2 to 18 and 15 senior citizens. Officials confirmed that the process of issuing Disability Certificates for all identified individuals has commenced and is currently underway. The DLSA has also begun supporting these children in applying for their Unique Disability ID (UDID) Cards under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, a move aimed at improving access to government welfare schemes and services tailored to persons with disabilities.
By focusing efforts on accessibility and inclusion, Kiphire DLSA and the District Hospital reaffirm their shared commitment to uphold the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities in the district.
