Special prayers mark Good Friday

Churches across the state on April 15 observed Good Friday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus at the Calvary. Special prayers and services were organised in the Churches to thank Jesus for sacrificing His life for human race.
MGOS Church: MGOS Church, Dimapur observed Good Friday by holding morning prayer, procession and Holy Cross Veneration.
In a statement, MGOS Church said for the Orthodox Christians Passion week is a special week for special prayers and that the service led by Vicar Rev. Fr. Dr. P.S. Varghese.
In the message, Rev.Fr. Varghese highlighted the importance of Christ witness in one’s life. He said the repentance of the thief on the cross gives a special message that, one must look to himself and to Christ for salvation.
Orthodox Christians’ of Dimapur, believers from Chumukhedima, Kohima, Jorhat, Imphal and Nagaon participated in the Good Friday service.
SFCC: St Francis Xavier Catholic Church (SFCC) Kidima observed Good Friday led by director of Eden Gardens and Children’s Home, Khuzama, Reverend Father Raymond D’Souza SJ at the Church premises.
A press release by the church informed that in his homily, Fr. Raymond said Jesus’s crucifixion was the supreme sacrifice for the people adding that those believed Christ would inherit eternal life.
The release said special prayer was offered for atheist, faithful, Church leaders, administration including Jews who first heard the good news for the salvation. Rosary was recited for intercession of Mother Mary for mercy and veneration of cross and communion was served to the faithful.
