United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC), apex student organisation of the Sangtam community has asked the responsible authority to “acquit the remaining funds” and direct the contractor to boost the work speed of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) building construction at the earliest.
In a press release, USSC chairman K. Rothrongki Sangtam and vice president Sethrongba Y Sangtam stated that “Kiphire being the most backward region in the country remains deprived and neglected in every aspect since its inception.”
While stating that this issue needs to be addressed at the highest level, USSC said the work order was issued on March 5, 2015, however, work was not even half done.
It said that this was denying the Right to Education Act.
Pointing out that it took serious note of every developmental activity under its region, USSC said with regard to DIET construction, the conference discussed the issue with the concerned contractor but despite repeated appeals, the work was not progressing “due to non-payment of funds.”
