Speed-up verification process: PDPWDFWU

DIMAPUR: Peren District PWD Field Workers’ Union (PDPWDFWU) has urged the responsible department to speed up the verification process.
In a press release, PDPWDFWU president Kunam Hegeu and secretary Temsu Ao informed that Aadhaar verification for PWD (R&B) (Housing) work charge employees began in March 2020. However, the union said that verification was yet to be completed till date “due to the reason best known to the department”.
The union stated that most of the genuine employees particularly those under ‘B’ ‘C’ & ‘D’ category were facing “immeasurable hardship and suffering” in maintaining day to day activities due to non-payment of salaries for almost two years.
PDPWDFWU stated that work and housing department directed engineer-in-chief dated February 17, 2022 for verification of work charged employees under NPWD. The union stated that as the employees were asked to furnish original documents within 15 days for re-verification, all the employees submitted all the relevant documents in a hurry. However, the union expressed surprise that department was yet to forward the collected documents to the government, which it said was “an insult to the already traumatized employees.”
Therefore, the union has questioned the department why has the verification process been kept on hold for so long?
