SSA teachers demand release of pending salaries

Nagaland Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (NSSATA) has demanded that the state government release their salaries pending since November 2017 to date.
In a press note, NSSATA president, Penthungo Y. Yanthan and general secretary, Vinoka Sohe demanded that the salaries be released on or before the February 10, 2018.
The association lamented that SSA teachers of 2010 and 2013 had been forced to beg for their salaries since the day of appointment.
These teachers are appointed through the undertaking of the state government, appointments not co-terminus with the SSA project, and hence are regular appointments at par with state government employees, it said.
NSSATA further stated that in spite of this fact, the government had meted out step-motherly treatment to the SSA teachers by failing to address their grievances.
The association demanded that the government fulfil the written assurance and reminded its own members to be prepared for any initiatives that may be taken up for the welfare of the association.
