DIMAPUR: Sand Stockist and Supplier Union (SSSU), Niuland district has elected new team of office bearers for the tenure 2026-2031 during the general meeting held at Niuland on June 22.
In a press release, union president, Kikato Awomi and general secretary, Khetoshe Swu stated that the union aims to streamline sand supply and curb illegal practices in the district.
Kikato Awomi has been elected as president, while Unoka Sumi will serve as vice-president. Khetoshe Swu has been appointed as general secretary, Vikheto Uto Chishi as joint secretary and Kiyehlo as finance secretary. Phuton and Qhevika have been named as executive members.
Kikato said the Union will ensure that sand supply in Niuland remains legal, transparent and affordable, while taking steps against illegal mining.
