Sand stockists & supplies union Dimapur (SSSUD) has decided to stop paying tax to the department of environment, Forest & Climate Change and the department of Geology Mining (G&M) with effect from June 1, until the government decide which department was authorised to collect tax on sand-laden vehicles. In a press note, SSSUD president, Viniho Shohe, and secretary, Nito Sumi, said they were not in a position to continue paying tax to two departments on the same item.
The union stated that G&M department issues money receipt while forest department issue token in a small piece of paper at both new field and Delai check gates. In this regard, the union has requested the state government to clarify as the earliest to which department was authorised to collect.
The union also cautioned that the two departments would be held responsible in the event of any untoward incident that occurred during civil disobedience.
Meanwhile, SSSUD also informed all its members to gather at new field and Delai gate at 4:30am on June 1, 2018.
