SSUK cultural event celebrates roots and unity

Sangtam Students’ Union Kohima (SSUK) organised its cultural programme at the State Academy Hall, Kohima, on Saturday under the theme “Araa Khu Wüang” (From Roots to Beyond), celebrating Sangtam heritage, unity and student empowerment.
Welcoming the gathering, SSUK president Longtili C. Sangtam said the event was a tribute to tradition, elders and community spirit, beyond songs and dances. He informed that the current Sangtam student enrollment in Kohima stands at 646.
President of Sangtam Union Kohima, Thsapongse Sangtam, lauded the initiative and encouraged students to uphold Sangtam culture and serve as ambassadors of their community.
United Sangtam Students’ Conference president, Adekhing I. Sangtam, commended SSUK for organising the event and urged students to be responsible citizens and uphold peace and unity. He also announced sponsorship for Sangtam students pursuing Ph.D. studies in History, Archaeology and Anthropology.
Guest of honour, T. Imlikumzuk Sangtam, in his address, reminded students that “Our today is our tomorrow.” He urged them to remain rooted in culture, use digital platforms wisely, and respect parents, elders and God. Highlighting unemployment challenges, he encouraged students to explore opportunities beyond government jobs and competitive exams, stating, “Success is for those who are ready to go the extra mile.”
SSUK expressed gratitude to the guest of honour and acknowledged the support of United Sangtam Students’ Conference, Sangtam Union Kohima, Sangtam Baptist Lithro Kohima, Eastern Nagaland Unions Kohima, and various Area and Village Unions under Sangtam Union Kohima for making the event meaningful.
