St. Joseph University hosted its 1st Music and Art Festival, “Campus Crescendo: Uniting University Minds in Song” on October 31 at its premises. This historic event marked a significant milestone by bringing together students, faculty and music enthusiasts from diverse background to celebrate the fusion of music and art.
The festival was organized by committee comprising the higher authorities and faculties. In the solo category, Wekupe Therie was declared winner and Lungbui was the runners-up. In Battle of the Bands category, The Ecstasy was declared the winner and Lunar Groove was the runners-up.
The festival commenced with a grand inauguration ceremony, graced by the guest of honour, founder and conductor of the Nagaland Madrigal Singers (TNMS), Hito Kiho and his lady wife Niutoli Jimomi, including the university vice-chancellor, Dr. D. Gnanadurai, special guest Rev. Sr. Gnanaselvam DMI, DFT-president, Chennai, higher authorities, esteemed judges, HODs of various departments, faculty members, non-teaching staffs and students.
The festival kicked off with solo performances that captivated the audience. Participants exhibited remarkable skill and passion, delivering soul-stirring renditions of contemporary hits. Bands from various genres took the stage, creating an electrifying atmosphere. Each band demonstrated exceptional teamwork, musical powers and stage presence. The fusion of instruments, vocals and creativity showcased the versatility of musical expression, leaving the audience enthralled.
A panel of judges comprising renowned musicians and music experts, evaluated the performances. The three judges for the fest were HOD at Margaret Shishak School of Music, Patkai Christian College, Kevisekuo Sechu, assistant professor SJU, Tokaholi Chishi, and assistant professor SJU, Dr. A. Khou Stephen. Their expertise ensured a fair and unbiased assessment.
The inaugural St. Joseph University 1st Music and Art Festival was resounding success, leaving an indelible mark on the university’s cultural landscape. The event served a testament to the power of artistic expression in fostering creativity, unity and appreciation for diverse cultures.
