St. Joseph University hosts 2nd annual culture lecture

Department of Political Science at St. Joseph University hosted the second annual Culture Lecture Series on February 12, 2025, under the theme “Whose Story Is It Anyway? The Politics of Cultural Documentation.”


Postgraduate students from the Departments of Political Science and English, research scholars, and faculty participated in the event.

The program was coordinated by Dr. Somingam Mawon and Dr. Shonreiphy Longvah, Associate Professors in Political Science. An eminent poet and Vice-Chancellor of Hindi University, West Bengal, Prof. Nandini Sahu, served as the guest speaker.”


In his introductory note, Dr. Mawon emphasized the urgent need to preserve dying cultural traditions and called for academic and policy-driven initiatives to document them
Prof. Sahu’s lecture focused on the historical neglect of indigenous communities in academic research.


The lecture concluded with a word of gratitude from Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science, K Tohuto.
