The Internal Complaints Committee of St. Joseph University, Chumoukedima, in collaboration with the Institution Innovation Council, organized a special talk on Women Empowerment, on March 17, with Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu as the guest speaker.
The event aimed to emphasize the importance of empowering women, particularly Naga women, and its vital role in promoting social and cultural progress. Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu, known for her advocacy of women’s rights, delivered an inspiring lecture, stressing the need for gender equality in all aspects of life.
Reflecting on the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day, “Accelerate Action,” she urged both men and women to collaborate in empowering each other, starting from households and extending to public spaces.
She emphasized that women’s empowerment should begin in simple spaces, like the kitchen, and extend to wider society. She encouraged both male and female students to actively support each other in achieving equality, whether in academic or social settings.
Earlier, the event was moderated by Dr. Bendangnaro (Department of Botany), welcome address by Dr. Amrita Difusa (Department of Biotechnology) and vote of thanks by Lucy N. Ngullie (Department of Physics).
