DIMAPUR: St. Savio Higher Secondary School, Chümoukedima organised a Parents–Teachers meeting cum awareness programme on drug abuse on July 4 under the theme “Parents and Teachers – One Team, One Mission.”
The programme was chaired by Varkey V. J., member of the school managing board and principal of Little Flower High School, Chümoukedima. Addressing the gathering, Razouvotuo Chatsu, chairman of the school managing board and Chümoukedima Village Council, encouraged parents to play an active role in modern education. He emphasised that parents are indispensable partners in shaping the future of their children and called for close collaboration with the school in nurturing responsible citizens.
The highlight of the programme was an awareness session on “Protecting Our Children from Drug Abuse (Parent’s Role)” delivered by Wopen Jami, UBSI, 2nd officer‑in‑charge, Diphupar Police Station. He sensitised parents to the growing threat of drug abuse among youth and urged vigilance, open communication, monitoring of activities and cooperation with schools to safeguard children.
Speaking on “Parents as Partners in Education,” principal Reji Kuriakose likened parents and teachers to the two wings of a bird, stressing that holistic development is possible only when both home and school work together as “One Team, One Mission.”
Parents were also briefed on initiatives including UDISE+, APAAR, scholarship schemes, Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Scheme, Scool360 mobile app, discipline and assessment policies. An interactive forum enabled parents to share suggestions and concerns.
