St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Shamator, launched its Annual Games and Sports 2026 with a vibrant inaugural ceremony held on the school campus on April 21. The event was graced by Superintendent of Police, Shamator, Suresh Shinde, as the special guest and attended by members of the School Advisory Board, dignitaries, teachers, parents and students.
The programme began with a prayer dance seeking blessings for the success of the event, followed by a welcome address from Principal Fr. Latsutho John Poji. He encouraged students to actively participate in sports, highlighting the values of discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, students presented a series of captivating performances, including songs, choreography, and cultural displays, which drew enthusiastic applause from the audience.
In his address, special guest Suresh Shinde commended the school authorities for organizing the event, noting its role in promoting physical fitness, unity, discipline and character building among students. He urged the participants to take sports seriously, emphasizing that qualities such as determination, teamwork and sportsmanship are vital for success in life. He further acknowledged the effort and cooperation required to organize such a large-scale event, praising the dedication of the school management, teachers and staff.
Concluding his speech, Shinde wished the participants success and encouraged them to give their best while upholding the true spirit of sportsmanship.
