Star Cargo proprietor Nitovi Aye has denied allegation by NSCN (Khango) of collecting money on behalf of the organisation. Responding to the allegation levelled against him, Nitovi said he had opened Star Cargo Transport in 2016 and had been running the business ever since.
He claimed of paying Rs 30,000 for the months of February and March 2023 to Khango faction of NSCN shortly after its formation. Subsequently, he alleged that two of his staff were kidnapped on June 6 this year at 6 p.m., but were later released at 11.30 p.m. after he had intervened.
Thereafter, Nitovi said he personally went to negotiate with the group on June 7 since the latter demanded Rs 5 lakh per month from him.
He mentioned that he had told them that he could afford to pay only Rs 50,000, which was flatly rejected despite several pleas.
Again, Nitovi claimed that cadres of Khango faction of NSCN came in two vehicles at around 8 a.m. on September 13 and kidnapped one of his staff, but was later released after the intervention of the police.
Nitovi clarified that the transport business was his source of income and he had never collected any money in the name of any faction. He wondered why anybody in his right sense of mind would collect taxes in the name of Naga political groups.
He, however, assured that if anybody was misusing his name or his transport business for fraudulent activities, he would do everything in his capacity to find the imposter.
He also appealed to NSCN (Khango) to sincerely pursue the matter to find the actual culprit who was bringing disrepute to the organisation and put an end to the matter.
Nitovi said the allegations levelled against him by the group was very grave and that it had tarnished his image.
He also declared that should any untoward incident happened to him, his family, staff or his transport agency, NSCN (Khango) would be solely responsible and would have to bear full responsibility.
