The felicitation programme for the State awardees in the handicraft category was held at the Conference Hall, Directorate of Industries and Commerce on April 25.
On the occasion, 30 individuals were awarded in different categories of arts.
A DIPR report stated that the commissioner and secretary, Kekhrievor Kevichusa graced the event as special guest and Padma Shree awardee 2023 Neihuno Sorhie also attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Kevichusa spoke on the significance of the award function. He also advised the awardees to not stop but keep striving so that all will excel in life.
Padma Shree 2023 awardee Neihunuo also encouraged and congratulated the awardees at the function. She also shared her journey toward the civilian highest award, and appreciated her mother for teaching, encouraging, and guiding her.
Director of Industries and Commerce, A. Temjen Jamir in his keynote address highlighted that the award was being given by the Ministry of Textile in 67 categories based on criteria like design, techniques, materials used, traditions, etc.
