Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland state unit joined the rest of the country in celebrating 11 years of the BJP-led central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event was held at the party’s state office here on Tuesday as part of a nationwide campaign on the theme “Viksit Bharat Ka Amrit Kaal” and “Seva, Garib Kalyan Ke 11 Saal.”
Speaking to media persons, deputy chief minister Y Patton, who is also state BJP legislature party leader, claimed that past 11 years under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership would be remembered as a “golden era” in the history of India. He described the period as “one of Sankalp Ki Siddhi (fulfilment of resolve)” toward building a self-reliant and developed India.
Patton said that the journey was not walked alone by the Prime Minister, but through his dedicated efforts to uplift the hard work, sacrifices, and aspirations of 140 crore Indians.
He maintained that this era of governance laid a strong foundation for India’s future and transformed the culture of governance into one that centred on public service and participative decision-making.
Highlighting the shift in national sentiment, Patton noted that before 2014, there was widespread doubt about India’s capacity to transform. “Today, people believe it will happen because of Prime Minister Modi’s leadership,” he said.
Further, comparing Modi government’s performance with previous Congress regimes, Patton said that earlier governments gave slogans such as Garibi Hatao. However, he claimed that now data showed that over 270 million people have been lifted out of poverty in the last 11 years.
Patton also cited several flagship schemes including PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, PM Jan Dhan Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, which he said placed the poor at the heart of policymaking.
He further claimed that corruption has significantly reduced under the Modi government. Patton also highlighted major policy decisions such as the abrogation of Article 370, abolition of Triple Talaq, implementation of GST, and amendments to the Waqf Act as examples of “bold leadership”.
State BJP legislature party leader asserted that the government had revived India’s cultural and spiritual heritage and projected its values globally through a strong and confident foreign policy.
Patton said the 11 years of the Modi government had taken India from despair to hope, darkness to light, and from corruption to good governance.
Minister Temjen Imna Along also outlined key achievements of the Modi government over the past 11 years. He claimed that under Modi’s leadership, India has become a self-reliant defence power, with advancements in missile systems and defence exports.
He highlighted major initiatives such as Operation Sindoor targeting terrorism, large-scale evacuation missions, and a 70% reduction in Naxal incidents.
On country’s economic growth, he said India was on track to become the fourth-largest global economy. He also said there was a significant rise in digital transactions through UPI.
Further, Imna Along emphasized on improvements in transparency via GeM, the DBT initiative transferring ₹44 lakh crore directly to beneficiaries, and the government’s efforts in improving Ease of Doing Business, ranking India 63rd globally.
He also cited tax relief for the middle class and a strong startup ecosystem generating millions of jobs.
Former state BJP president said that government’s focus on infrastructure included the completion of the world’s highest railway bridge and the expansion of rural connectivity. On agriculture, he said Rs.3.7 lakh crore was disbursed to farmers under PM Kisan, and significant irrigation projects were funded.
In education and healthcare, Imna Along said the government established new institutions, trained millions under PM Kaushal Vikas, and expanded healthcare access with 40 crore Ayushman Bharat cards. The development of the Northeast, with Rs.4.3 lakh crore in investments, was also a major focus, he added.
The press conference was chaired by BJP spokesperson Akum Pongen.
After the press conference, BJP legislators visited an exhibition at the venue showcasing the developmental milestones and achievements of the Modi government over the past decade.
