State BJP to launch ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign from Aug 11

DIMAPUR

Nagaland unit of the BJP will launch the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and ‘Tiranga Yatra’ campaigns with a series of events across the state from August 11 to 15 to commemorate the country’s 79th Independence Day.
Addressing a press conference at the party office, BJP Nagaland chief spokesperson N. Kakuto Chishi said the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative had evolved from a campaign into a people’s movement, encouraging citizens to bring the national flag home and hoist it with pride.
He said that earlier, the tricolour was seen mostly on government buildings. But, today, it symbolises personal freedom and pride, Chishi said, crediting the party for bringing the national flag to the personal level and underscoring that the freedom it represents belonged to every Indian.
As part of the programme, BJP will organise a medical camp in all 11 district jails for inmates on August 11 and visit the Deaf Biblical Ministry at Naharbari, Dimapur.
On August 13, the tricolour will be hoisted at the BJP state headquarters in Kohima, as well as in all 14 districts and 60 mandal offices, followed by ‘Tiranga bike yatras’ in the districts. A cleanliness drive will also be held in all mandals.
On August 14, the party will observe the ‘Remembrance Day’ of the partition horrors across the state.
On August 15, after the Independence Day celebrations, a hand cart ‘Tiranga Yatra’ will be flagged off from DDSC stadium, Dimapur, followed by a food drive at Ram Janaki Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, and sanitary pad distribution in 14 districts by the BJP Mahila Morcha. A penalty shoot-out will also be organised at 47 Aboi, 57 Thonoknyu and 60 Pungro-Kiphire A/C mandals. (PTI)
