State gears up for IPPI prog

As part of nation’s contribution to the global effort of eradicating Polio disease from the world, the first round of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) programme in Nagaland for 2015 would be held on January 18.   
In a press release, State Immunization Officer, Kohima, Dr. Chubatoshi stated that Department of Health & Family Welfare is geared up to administer Polio drops to over 2.46 lakhs eligible children from 0-5 years throughout the state in 2,317 Polio booths to be manned by 9,268 vaccinators and 463 supervisors along with vaccines and other logistics.
It stated that Special focus would be given to the migrant population with an aim to prevent importation of Polio cases.
The Department has appealed to all agencies (Government and Non-Government, including the security forces and police), organizations, and especially community leaders and parents of children below 5 years to come forward and ensure that all eligible children receive the “two drops of life” (Polio drops).
It has further informed all concerned to contact the nearest Health Centre or the Chief Medical Officer/ District Programme Officer (RCH-UIP) for necessary information.
