Nagaland’s first dedicated pain hospital, Nagaland Pain Management Centre (NPMC), sponsored by Sundyota Numandis and Asarva Life Sciences was inaugurated at Naharbari, Dimapur on March 15.
The centre focuses on diagnosis and treatment of various types of pain, particularly chronic pain. It offers treatments including non-surgical interventions like radiofrequency ablation, and help patients deal with conditions such as spine, back, knee, cancer pain, diabetic neuropathy, and other body pains.
The centre was inaugurated by advisor, Department of Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu. In her speech, Hekani commended Dr. Arenna for her initiative in opening the pain management center, acknowledging her strength and the importance of the center, especially for those living with chronic pain.
She highlighted that Dr. Arenna’s initiative was not only a medical practice but also a growing enterprise. She emphasized that the government’s role was to serve the people, and are committed to support the center’s future development.
She highlighted on the UNNATI scheme and encouraged the medical community to take advantage of such schemes, especially as some districts still lack adequate healthcare facilities.
In her welcome address, proprietor, NPMC, Dr. Arenna Aier, expressed pride and gratitude in opening the Nagaland Pain Management Center. She described the center as a dream come true, driven by a commitment to compassionate care.
She informed that despite facing personal losses, including her father and sister, she became more determined to succeed, always following her father’s advice, to remember God during difficult times and view challenges as opportunities to achieve her goals.
She noted that her patients also motivated her to open the center, and was built on passion, hard work, and the belief that they could make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives.
She reassured patients that they would be partners in their health, providing a space of safety, respect, and empowerment. She expressed her commitment to providing a space of safety, respect, and empowerment for her patients.
Delivering his speech virtually, director, Delhi Pain Management Centre, New Delhi, Dr. (Prof.) G.P. Dureja highlighted the significance of the inauguration of Nagaland’s first pain management center, terming it a milestone for healthcare in the region.
He underscored the growing need for pain management, citing that 35% of India’s population suffers from chronic pain. He commended Dr. Arenna for her dedication and hard work in establishing the center, praising her empathy and commitment to alleviating pain. He noted that the center would provide much-needed relief to people from Nagaland and neighboring states, eliminating the need for patients to travel far for treatment.
Earlier, the program was chaired by Sendenla Aier Kevichusa, invocation by pastor, International Prayer Centre Church, Nagaland, Nusoteü Zao, short address by Medical Fraternity, Dr. Kitaka Sukhato Wotsa MBBS, MS, ribbon cutting ceremony by the chief guest and dignitaries, vote of thanks by Dr. Maongwati Aier, (Retd. IAS) and benediction by Sheden Longkumer.
