State government sets up medical council

Nagaland government has constituted a 16-member state medical council as per the provision of section 3.
State health & family welfare (H&FW) department informed in a notification No. MED-7/A/2/07(Vol-I) dated January 29, 2015, in pursuance of the notification of the Nagaland Medical Council Act 2014 in the official Gazettee vide Part V of 30th April, 2014 and in consonance of the Section 33 (1) of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956.
The council would be headed by M Murry, retired director and former member of Medical council of India (MCI), as president and Dr. Sashimeren Aier, retired principal director as vice president.
Other members include president, Nagaland in-service Association; president, Indian Medical association; president, general practitioner association; Dr. Sedevi Angami, CISHR Dimapur; Dr. Kezhalezo Angami, Bethel Medical Centre Kohima; Dr. Jonsuthung Kithan, Wokha; Dr. Joyce Zinyu; director (health) directorate of H&FW; director (family welfare) directorate of H&FW; mission director (NHM) directorate of H&FW; senior most additional director, directorate of H&FW; principal director, directorate of H&FW. Two ex. officio members include dean of the medical faculty of the university and representative of medical council.
