
The State government on Monday announced a marginal decrease in the Sales Tax on petroleum products including motor spirit and lubricants, with effect from midnight of February 22, 2021.
As per a notification issued in this regard, the Finance department, in exercise of powers conferred by sub section 3 of Section 3A of the Nagaland (Sale of Petroleum and Petroleum Products Including Motor Spirit and Lubricants) Taxation Act, 1967 (as amended), reduced the sales tax on diesel from 17.50 per cent (Rs 11.08) per litre to 16.50 per cent (Rs 10.51) per litre), whichever is higher.
Similarly, the sales tax on petrol has been reduced from 29.80 per cent (Rs18.26) per litre to 25 per cent (Rs 16.04) per litre, whichever is higher, the Finance department stated.
