Minister of Higher & Technical Education and Tourism, TemjenImna Along, on Sunday said the department was actively pursuing the release of central share of post-matric scholarships from Ministry of Tribal Affairs, to enable disbursement of the pending second phase to eligible students.
Addressing the media at his residence, Along informed that while the first phase of the scholarship had been released earlier, many students were still awaiting the second phase. He acknowledged the concern among students and assured that the department was making all efforts to secure the central share.
Along said the latest communication from the ministry was received on September 15, wherein the state was asked to submit the statement of expenditure and requirement for 2024-2025. He said the department had already complied with the directive and forwarded the necessary documents. Expressing optimism, he said the central share would be released soon and assured that the funds would be disbursed to the remaining students without delay once received.
On the proposed scholarship nodal cell, he informed that the state government, under chief secretary, had earlier directed all line departments to oversee scholarship matters, including PMS. He said formalities were underway to establish a nodal cell under the Higher Education department, which would also coordinate with other departments handling student scholarships. He reiterated that the cell would be set up soon and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to pursue the matter until it is resolved.
