State govt reminds on use of govt vehicles

State government has reminded the ministers and MLAs of the ECI directive that no government vehicle should be used by any minister or MLAs for campaigning.
In an order, the state chief secretary, R. Binchilo Thong, stated that earlier all AHoDs and HoDs had been directed to ensure that no vehicle was attached to any ministers/MLAs beyond their entitlement.
Even the vehicles that have been officially given to any ministers/MLAs were only for official purposes and in no case could be used for election related works, the order stated.
Accordingly, the chief secretary stated that any government vehicle found being used for election campaigning by any candidate should be seized immediately.
All DCs and SPs in the districts have been directed to take immediate action regard to this matter. The state government has cautioned that action would also be taken against any AHoDs/HoDs who allowed misuse of official vehicles by any candidate.
