A two-week long, State Handloom Expo 2024 (Hathkargha Mela) under Aatmnirbhar Bharat Utsav, which began on March 10 is currently underway at Zunheboto. Inaugurating the Expo at Zunheboto Cultural Hall as special guest, Keyirangding Hegui, ADC Zunheboto, said that the main objective of the Expo was to provide a platform to the weavers and artisans to exhibit and sell their products.
Hegui encouraged the weavers and artisans to maintain the originality of “our rich culture and traditional.” He also encouraged them to work skilful and produce more products by availing the opportunity offer under Aatmnirbhar Bharat Utsav.
Briefing the objective of the Expo, Nagaland Apex Weavers & Artisans Cooperative Federation (WEAFED) managing director Gwaruno Khing said that the Expo was organised to provide platform to the rural weavers and artisans to expose their products and also promote marketing channel and enhance their skills and techniques in sales and marketing.
The expo was sponsored by Development Commissioner for Handloom, Government of India, and organised by WEAFED.
Altogether, 60 stalls have been set up including participants from Assam, Manipur and host state Nagaland. The expo will culminate on March 23.
