State health and family welfare (H&FW) department felicitated 51 health units in Nagaland under Kayakalp scheme— a clean hospital initiative of the ministry of health and family welfare—during the Kayakalp award ceremony held at the directorate of H&FW here Saturday.
State H&FW minister, S Pangnyu Phom, who graced the occasion as special guest, said that Kayakalp initiative award was accorded to hospitals across state for the promotion of cleanliness and hygiene and infection control practices.
Following the introduction of the Kayakalp initiative in the State in the year 2015-16, Phom said that massive involvement of the community in the activities of the health units had been has witnessed in the form of timely social work and contribution in cash and kind towards the improvement and upkeep of the health facilities.
Acknowledging the 51 health units for their commendable job, the health minister encouraged them to continue working relentlessly towards the betterment of the public health service.
Phom also urged upon the medical officers and health workers to put more effort for strengthening and promotion of Kayakalp initiative for more cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices in all hospitals.
Principal secretary H&FW department, Amardeep Bhatia, reminded that hospitals should be the epitome of caring.
Dimapur district hospital MS; SMO CHC Bhandari and MO, PHC, Mongsenyimti also shared their experiences under Kayakalp.
State program officer Dr. Mereninla Senlem chaired the felicitation ceremony, principal director Neikhrielie Khimiao delivered welcome address while director (health) Dr. Vikato K Kinimi, proposed the vote of thanks.
Phek District Hospital, Dimapur District Hospital and Tuensang District Hospital, which came first, second and third respectively, were awarded cash prize of Rs. 25 lakh, Rs. 15 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh.
Commendation award was given to DH Mon, Kiphire and Mokokchung along with Rs. 30 lakh each while in CHC category, Bhandari CHC and CHC Changtongya were awarded Rs. 10 lakh each.
In PHC Category, PHC Kimipfüphe under Kohima district, Mongsenyimti under Mokokchung, Wozhuro under Wokha, Longpang under Tuensang, Thuvopisu under Phek, Dungki under Peren, Yongnyah Longleng, Changlangshu under Mon district, Satakha under Zunheboto district and Likhimro under Kiphire district were awarded Rs. 20 lakh each.
Commendation award was awarded to PHC Longkhum, PHC Chuchuyimlang district, PHC Sitimi, PHC Athibung, PHC Khonoma, PHC Botsa, PHC Chunlikha, PHC Ruzazho, PHC Dzulhami, PHC Chukitong, PHC Nyrio, PHC Chare, PHC Chumukedima, PHC Suruhoto, PHC Tamlu with a cash of Rs. 50,000 each.
Best Health and Wellness Centre (HWC) was awarded to HWC Longmisa, HWC Samzuiram, HWC Thizama, HWC Phek Village, HWC Changsu, HWC Diphupar B with cash prize of Rs. 10 lakh each.
HWC commendation was awarded to HWC Longkong, HWC Sungratsu, HWC Jaluki Zangdi, Jotsoma Science College, HWC Mesulumi, HWC Pongidong and HWC Naga United with a cash of Rs. 25,000 each.
Kohima, Mokokchung and Dimapur were awarded commendation prize award for UPHCs with cash prize of Rs. 50,000 each.
