The 3rd state level committee meeting for New India @75 -Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav was held on June 3, under the chairmanship of principal secretary, Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) and Nagaland State AIDS Control Society(NSACS) chairman, Amardeep S. Bhatia.
In a press release, NSACS informed that the meeting was held to highlight achievements of New India @75- Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav conducted in eight high HIV prevalent districts–Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Noklak,Phek, Peren, Tuensang and Kiphire in three phased manner on three themes—HIV, TB and blood donation.
During the programmes, District Level Committees were set up under the chairmanship of deputy commissioners (DCs) in each identified district to carry out the activities.
At the meeting, presentation on overall achievements was given by deputy director (IEC)NSACS, Thejangunuo Theunuo, who stated that the campaign was carried out in three phase manners from August 2021-March 2022 at 75 identified schools and 75 identified colleges/institute/higher secondary schools in the identified districts.
Through the awareness programmes, a total of 16,264 students were reached and during the various competitions, a total of 1,212 students took part and 479 students were declared winners, Thejangunuo informed.
Meanwhile, joint director (IEC) NSACS,Metevinuo Sakrie acknowledged each district level committee headed by DCs for proactively carrying out the activities and accomplishing the campaign.
She also thanked members present for their support and coordination. The meeting was attended by representative from DIPR, Social Welfare, All India Radio Kohima (AIR), Doordarshan Kendra Kohima (DDK), Higher Education, Technical Education, NBSE, SCERT, Youth Resources and Sports and PIB Kohima.
It may be mentioned that the concept of the campaign is an initiative of the government of India to commemorate 75 years of India Independence.
In support, National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), ministry of Health and Family Welfare has planned the New India@75 campaign on three phase manners—HIV, TB and blood donation. NSACS has carried out the campaign in coordination with the concerned departments.
