
The state level science seminar 2021 was held in the mini conference hall of the directorate of school education on Friday with principal director, school education, Shanavas C as the speaker.
In a press release, state nodal officer, science section, Visetonuo Angami informed that that the topic for this year’s science seminar was “boosting immunity- the need of the hour, prospects and challenges” and was held virtually.
In his speech, Shanavas stressed on the importance of science and said that science as a subject offered many opportunities for students.He lamented on the absence of students in the programme owing to the pandemic but hoped for better opportunities for students to participate and better exposure through these type of programmes in the days to come.
The principal director stated that these type of seminars and exhibitions helped students grow and build for a better future.
He said that a collective effort was required by line departments such as SCERT, NBSE, DSE etc and they need to collaborate and work together to motivate students to participate in such competitions.
The panel of judges for this year’s seminar were deputy director, school education, Emilo, research associate, SCERT Vilakhole and assistant professor, Kohima Science College Dr. Rokovikho Dominic.
The participants were earlier made to undergo an aptitude test on google format arranged by GT (Science), GHS PWD, Tosovi Philip and marks scored by students were added to their performances in the seminar.
Based on these performances, Tsupongla S from Minister’s Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School, Kohima was declared the winner. The first runner-up was bagged by Chaangsangla Y of Wela Foundation School, Tuensang and second runner-up was bagged by Arizongla of Jubilee Memorial School, Mokokchung.
The programme was chaired by assistant director, DSE Visetonuo Angami and vote of thanks was pronounced by Jangsemba Tzudir.
Altogether 10 participants from Kohima, Dimapur, Tuensang, Phek, Kiphire, Peren, Wokha, Zunheboto, Mon and Mokokchung participated.
