State level training on National Family Health Survey-6 underway

State level training on main survey activity for the first phase of sixth round of National Family Health Survey (NFHS-6) commenced at Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) Chümoukedima on July 7, and would culminate on August 7.
A press release by Centre for Market Research & Social Development (CMRSD) Pvt. Ltd., stated that chief guest of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dimapur, Dr Limatula Aier asserted the importance of NFHS 6 for a state like Nagaland and urged the investigator to
be sincere and collect good quality data.
Speaking at the occasion guest of honour, executive director DAN, Fr. Sajan Joseph stated that it was important to collect quality data as the future of Nagaland health scenario lies in the responsibility of
the investigators. He said they should be free from all forms of bias before going to the field.
JRO, IIPS, Zabenthang Enny said that NFHS-6 was launched with the specific goals of providing essential data on health and family welfare needed by the central and state governments and other stakeholders, for policy formulation and also to acquire information on important emerging health and family welfare issues.
The presidential address was delivered by executive director of CMRSD, Dr Manmath Kumar Mohanty.
It may be noted that the Ministry has designated Mumbai-based International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), as nodal agency responsible for providing coordination and technical guidance for the survey. IIPS has assigned the CMRSD New Delhi as the field agency to conduct field work for collecting data in the state of Nagaland and Manipur.
The NFHS-6 will cover around seven lakh sample households to provide estimates for 731 districts (as on June, 2021), making it the largest in the world, and in Nagaland it would cover 528 PSU and nearly 11000 households in the state.
