Advisor of CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo emphasised on the need for creating awareness about tax in the state as the department being new may face challenges in implementing laws on taxes.
He said this at the felicitation programme organised by department of Taxes at Commissioner of State Taxes Training Hall on Monday.
Khamo said “Tax is a new thing for many people in the State, for which, there may be challenges while implementing the taxes laws.”
He therefore stressed on the need to create awareness on tax and that every citizen has a responsibility to contribute in as much as they avail the privileges available to them.
The advisor also said the department of the Taxes though considered as one of the smallest department was the main backbone of the State government pointing out that besides all round development programs of the State government, thousands of employees gets their salaries out of the taxes collected by the department.
He also express gratitude to the chief minister Neiphiu Rio for reposing faith and given the assignment of CAWD & Taxes.
Earlier, welcome and introductory speech was delivered by commissioner of taxes, Gregory Thejawelie.
The programme was chaired by special commission of state taxes, Y Mhathung Murry and vote of thanks by additional commissioner of taxes, Wochamo Odyuo.
